Ander Camiruaga is a researcher specialized in the study of molecular aggregates in isolated phases. His work focuses in the characterization of intermolecular forces that govern the aggregation of biologically relevant compounds, with applications in non-covalent chemistry and molecular recognition.
He earned his PhD (2018-2021) at the University of the Basque Country (EHU/UPV), characterizing both rigid and flexible molecular aggregates in isolated conditions in combination with mass resolved laser spectroscopic techniques. He then expanded his expertise in the field in a postdoctoral stay (2021-2023) at the Institut des Sciences Moléculaires d’Orsay (ISMO-CNRS). There he joined to the SYSIPHE group and worked in a project focused on characterizing carbohydrate-peptide complexes of therapeutic interest under microhydration conditions. He not only mastered the handling, modification, and design of high-tech experiments but also delved deeply into quantum mechanical calculations to interpret experimental results.
Currently, he holds an Assistant Professor position at the University of the Basque Country (EHU/UPV), and works in the Molecular Cartography research line, together with the group’s scientific committee. He combines his research work with teaching duties in the Department of Physical Chemistry.
